Porsche 992 GT3 RS: Valvetronic Exhaust & ASR Valve Controller Installation

A Porsche 992 GT3 RS in the workshop always draws attention. This recent visit to Miltech Auto Performance in Three Legged Cross, Dorset, was all about the exhaust: we installed a Valvetronic Designs sport cat-back system alongside an ASR valve controller.

For owners researching Porsche GT3 RS exhaust upgrades, here is a look behind the scenes at the installation and what to consider when planning a similar upgrade.

Valvetronic exhaust installation on a Porsche 992 GT3 RS

This 2023 GT3 RS came to us for a Valvetronic Designs exhaust upgrade. The selected sport cat-back system replaces the rear exhaust section, while the ASR controller adds control over exhaust-valve operation.

The exhaust and valve controller have different roles. The exhaust changes the hardware through which the gases pass; the controller manages valve operation. Choosing them together means considering both the sound you want and how you intend to use the car.

Our installation photographs show the work involved, from removing the rear bumper assembly to accessing the exhaust and refitting the rear bodywork. With the bumper removed, the exhaust layout and the space around the rear of the car are much easier to see.

Access is only part of the job. Exhaust installation also needs attention to mounting points, alignment, clearances and the position of the tailpipes within the rear bumper. The finished result should look properly integrated with the car.

Why pair the exhaust with an ASR valve controller?

Exhaust valves influence the sound character of a valved system. An ASR valve controller provides an additional way to manage their operation, with the available functions depending on the controller and vehicle combination.

For this installation, the ASR controller was fitted alongside the Valvetronic Designs system. If you are considering a similar setup, speak to us about compatibility and the controls available for your specific Porsche.

Choosing a Porsche GT3 RS exhaust upgrade

The right exhaust starts with your priorities. Are you looking for a different sound character, a particular finish or a setup suited to the way you use your Porsche? We can discuss the options and installation work before you commit.

Tell us your model year, current exhaust specification and whether the car is used on the road, at track days or both. Those details help us assess the right combination of exhaust and valve-control hardware.
